The climate crisis is a water crisis. Climate change induced floods, droughts, pollution, famine, disease and conflict are all related to water, and combined with rapid and unplanned urbanisation can result in not only catastrophic events, but threats to life and livelihoods on Earth. In order to better plan and organise around water in cities, Water as Leverage: Asia (WaL: Asia) is an inaugural effort to bridge innovative financing, inclusive design, and government collaboration in the development and implementation of projects that mitigate the impacts and adapt to the effects of climate change. The next phase for WaL is upscaling. Learning from the lessons of Asian cities, particularly RISECHENNAI, WaL could be upscale to other cities and regions around the world. The workshop could serve as a first step towards that end, by identifying and exploring concrete opportunities to initiate WaL in other locations around the world. Furthermore, this workshop intends to explore the possibilities envisioned in the previous workshop, for the application of the WaL approach in other contexts.
