Session: ICT and robotics in the water cycle

ICT and robotics in the water cycle: smart water meters, drones and roboats. A visit to Prodock and the AMS institute

ICT and robotics are getting more and more important, also in the water cycle. Several startups are working together on these innovations in Prodock, the innovation hub of the port of Amsterdam.

Waternet is one of the partners of Prodock and during the excursion you will learn about how smart water meters, drones, smart buoys and (autonomous) boats are used to gather more data and to optimise processes.

Besides Prodock, you will visit the revolutionary Roboat of the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS). Roboat is a 5 year research project and collaboration between AMS and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It’s a new kind of on-demand infrastructure. Autonomous platforms will be combined into form floating bridges and stages. They collect waste, deliver building materials, and transport people, all the while collecting data about the city.

In developing the world’s first fleet of autonomous floating vessels for the city of Amsterdam, Roboat investigates the potential of self-driving technology to change our cities and their waterways.

13.00-13.30 Travel by bus from RAI to Prodock

13.30-14.00 Presentation Prodock and Port of Amsterdam

14.00-14.45 Tour Prodock and innovation market: smart water meters, drones

      14.45-15.00 Closing and discussion

15.00-15.30 Travel by bus from Prodock to AMS

      15.30-16.00 Presentation AMS
