  Eric Schellekens is Business Director Climate Adaptation. Over the past two years he has led the development of The Resilience Pathway; a business model, methodology and decision support tool to catalyse climate change adaptation of several policy sectors. Eric works with the Water Program team and the Resilient Cities team to develop and apply tools and to engage both the private and public sector to integrate climate change adaptation into their businesses. He cooperates with world leading companies, frontrunner knowledge institutes and national and local authorities to raise the capacity level and to meet the requirements to initiate and finance ‘climate inclusive’ developments.

  Jolijn Posma - Economist and Consultant water and climate adaptation Jolijn is a committed consultant and project lead in the field of governance, water management, economics, and climate adaptation in cities. With her strategic way of thinking Jolijn connects people, disciplines, and interests in complex challenges. For example, Jolijn has played an important role in the Global Cities Network of Arcadis, implementation of the Bankable Resilience Tool (BaRT) in several cities (such as New Delhi, Greater Manchester, Bristol, Vejle, Nijmegen, and Ghent), the Investment Plan of the Bangladesh Delta Plan, and in climate adaptation strategies in various European cities.

 It is beyond doubt that for both cities and companies raising their resilience level in a timely manner is one of the biggest challenges. High level resiliency is needed to secure quality of life, reduce current and future vulnerability and enable future investment. Declining water quality, increased water stress and scarcity and flooding are among the top challenges that need to be addressed urgently. At this workshop we will present two tools that will allow you to design and finance low-carbon resiliency projects:  Optioneering with BaRT is a decision support methodology developed by Arcadis to accelerate breakthrough projects to meet disruptive challenges like climate change and related risks to water supply. CDP developed the “Matchmaker” tool which catalyzes investment in cities by connecting investors with a pipeline of urban projects. The ‘Optioneering with BaRT‘ methodology delivers design solutions that maximize the ROI, illustrates the distribution of benefits across stakeholder groups, attracts public and private investment and commits stakeholders. Matchmaker links private investors with suitable urban sustainability initiatives.
