Session: Smart water solutions – possibilities and challenges for the water sector

Smart water and digitalisation in the water sector bring challenges and opportunities for utilities and their customers. The aim of this workshop is to discuss how new and smarter solutions may help utilities provide services at the highest level also in the future, whilst not being controlled by the data. We will engage in a discussion with other utilities on:

  • The impact of smart water for their members.
  • Their opportunities for better services from a more smart approach.
  • The constraints for utilities in implementing more smart solutions.
  • Policy implications and issues that need to be addressed at national and European level for the benefit of their members’ activities.

Governance, legal and other implications of smart water for instance in relation to handling personal data and securing transparency in water management.
