      On Sunday the 3rd of November, the day before the start of the AIWW conference, there will be a public event. The purpose of this event is to promote the AIWW and create awareness for the Amsterdam International Water Week (and its themes). 

      The event is open for the public. Everyone who passes by can join or take part in the event (residents, tourists, children, et cetera). Participants of the AIWW are also welcome at the events.  

       The public event will take place at different locations in Amsterdam  

      Café de Jaren and Amsterdam Canals
      • 10:00 River is the Venue @ Cafe de Jaren
        Nieuwe Doelenstraat 20-22, Amsterdam
        Kick-off of the public event at Cafe de Jaren! A Waternetboat will sail from here to Cafe Amstelhoek (Amstel 1), where an artist will be drawing portraits on board for anyone who’s interested, between approximately 11.00-13.00.

      • 10:00 – 17:00 Drainspotting @De Balie and @RAI Amsterdam
        De Balie, Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen 10 & RAI Amsterdam, Europaplein 24
        (Interactive) art exhibition with screen printings by Alex Fischer
      • 11:00 Sea Soup
        Interactive theatre by Russell Arnott, suitable for the whole family (8+, English language). 
      • 13:00 – 13:30 South African Dance performance organised by Health promotors
        Dance performance by South African group Bambisanani. Through dance Bambisanani raise awareness about the importance of water in our daily lives.
      • 14:00 Sneak preview of the documentary ‘Me and Mekong’
      • 14:15 Let’s talk about water
        Screening of the acclaimed movie ‘Thank you for the Rain’, followed by a debate about the need for and necessities of water use (16+).
